Bestselling author Daniel Goleman states: “The rules of work are changing. We're being judged by a new yardstick: not just how smart we are, or by our training and expertise, but also by how well we handle each other and ourselves. The new rules predict who is most likely to become a star performer and who is most prone to derailing. The new measure takes for granted having enough intellectual ability and technical know-how to do our jobs; it focuses instead on personal qualities, such as initiative and empathy, adaptability and persuasiveness”.
Optimal performance is experienced when a worker executes the basics of their profession while simultaneously showing a high level of emotional competence or EQ. In his book “Working with Emotional Intelligence”, Daniel Goleman call this positive experience being in the “zone”. Schwartz & Loehr in their book “The Power of Full Engagement” reference this state as being in “flow”. We have all had this experience for brief periods of time and enjoyed the benefit in both performance and positive emotion. The challenge for all of us is how to stay there and much of our lives are spent trying to keep us in that flow or zone. Each of us hopes we can achieve that state and we spend much of our time aiming towards it whether that be in sports, family life, or business.
Often the missing piece is the soft skills or EQ piece. MYT Group's mission is to offer individuals who have the hard skills a way to sharpen their soft skills or EQ. We call what we offer Mind Skills™ and as you read our White Paper, you will see the proven results we have experienced with our participants.
Observation shows us that ambitious people who apply themselves diligently to their craft will excel over time. MYT Group's research demonstrates that our emotional competence intervention enhances participant’s work performance. It reduces the time it takes them to excel and helps high achievers develop their optimal performance of excellence and flow. It does so through targeted coaching of their emotional competence. People who complete our program work more efficiently and have a better time doing so.
In today's modern world, it is more important than ever to understand the impact that thought and emotions have on optimal performance. Dr. Aberman explains the role that entities such as MYT Group, LLC have on productivity especially in the sports world. (Audio file download).
