MYT Announcements: Cutting Edge Psychology and Neuroscience Training is what MYT is all about.

Because of our proximity to the academic community we are blessed with significant talent to draw upon. In this light, I'd like to introduce Aneel Chima to our readers.
Aneel believes deeply in a scholar-practitioner model of engagement and seeks to embody this balance in his professional endeavors. Applying methodically researched insights from the academic sphere to day-to-day, practical needs of businesses and non-profit organizations is central to his work as a consultant, where he provides market intelligence, organizational development, and executive training for various clients. He serves as Adjunct Professor in the Business Psychology Program at Palo Alto University and is a doctoral candidate in psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP). His research focuses on leveraging wisdom and emotional-social intelligence for effective organizational leadership. Additionally, Aneel is Vice President of the Veterans, Immigrant, and Refugee Trauma Institute of Sacramento (VIRTIS) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Transpersonal Psychologists. Previously, he served on the ITP Board of Trustees and was an award-winning physics and mathematics educator at Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas, CA where his teaching excellence was recognized by the SUHS District Trustees.

Past Participant Interview
Ameriprise Advisor Denise Palmer
How did you hear about MYT and its EQ work? I first heard about MYT and its EQ work through Art DeLorenzo. Art and I worked together and he brought the program to my attention.
What was your first experience like? My first experience was amazing. The information presented at the workshop was extremely valuable to me and helped me look at things with a different perspective. I went into it thinking it would help me increase my business productivity and it did. Along the way, however, I also acquired some life skills that I still use to this day.
How did you react to your IDP and do you still refer to it? In all honesty, my initial reaction to my IDP was: "What? Are they crazy?" I felt I had paid all this money for them to basically tell me to meditate, keep a journal and get a massage once a month. They said this was going to help me improve my productivity. Admittedly, after receiving my IDP I doubted that. How was getting a massage going to improve my productivity? The only way I was going to discover the answer to that question was to follow my IDP. Plus, I wanted a return on my investment. So I took their advice and began to implement the plan. Surprisingly (to me at least) wonderful things began to happen. I began to feel less stressed. And then more balanced. From there I could work from a different platform. I was able to do more, achieve more.
I still refer to my IDP on a regular basis. When I feel myself getting out of balance, the thing that pulls me back into alignment is following the recommendations in my IDP. I immediately begin to feel myself coming back to a calmer, more peaceful state of mind. It's much easier to focus from that point.
Did you receive focused, direct, & honest feedback from your "observers"? I received very constructive feedback from my observers. I chose them carefully. I wanted them to be people that cared enough about me to hold me accountable and also not to be afraid to give me a little nudge if they saw me going off course. Without a doubt, they helped to keep me on track.
Tell the readers about the coaching calls - what were they like? The coaching calls were helpful. Through them I learned my highest and lowest EQ levels and how I could improve them. I spent time speaking to Art, Rick and Fred and they provided feedback and additional skills that were pertinent to my specific EQ results.
How many times have you been through the workshop? I have only been through the workshop once.
You have been invited to attend the June 3rd workshop in NYC as a guest of MYT Group. What are your feelings about going back? I'm excited about going back and seeing how the program has evolved as well as to contribute in any way I can.
Do you feel you are more emotionally competent? If so, can you share an experience where it helped you?
I feel far more emotionally competent than I did prior to attending the workshop, and I feel I have the skill set to stay that way. As an example, Dr. Fred Luskin mentioned that the human mind is only capable of one thought at a time and we get to choose that thought. I can't even begin to tell you how that single statement alone has dramatically improved my life (and the lives of countless others as I share it all the time)! When something disruptive happens, I can choose instead to focus on something positive. By doing that, I am able to return to a productive and happier state more quickly. It's not always easy and I don't always catch myself very quickly, but I get better at it with time and practice.
Was attending MYT worth the investment and if so how can you quantify it?
MYT was well worth the investment. I am looking forward to participating in the workshop again. It has helped me on so many levels - both personally and professionally - my relationships are better, I am more focused and energetic. I am less stressed and more in control of my emotions. My business productivity and quality of life has increased. I highly recommend the workshop to anyone who has a desire to improve their productivity and emotional competence.
